Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. Our data center construction team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality data centers for our cloud services. As we continue to revolutionize the way construction projects are planned, managed, and executed, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Integration and Technical Infrastructure Lead (ITIM) - Americas - Execution Oversight Team to join our diverse and inclusive team. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the high standard and reliability of our product.  

As part of the regional Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Execution Oversight Team (EOT), the key responsibilities are to work cross functionally with other EOT members to provide oversight on the consistent implementation of the project service level agreement (SLA) and functional governance, perform project health analysis against the approved SLAs/scope/execution plan/cost/schedule, assist with the project setup, evaluate the site resource effectiveness, conduct spot audits, assist with onboarding and training of the site-based team. The team will be dedicated to this scope and will not be assigned to specific projects or other functional/regional activities. The project reviews and assessment will be as per the EOT roadmap and/or managed by exception should a critical priority be raised within the region. The team will be based in a hub location and will travel together to the site as per the roadmap and business critical priorities..

As an ITIM - Americas on the Data Center Delivery EOT Team, you will be an experienced ITIM capacity delivery manager with well-rounded experience of delivering projects. Your focus will be ITIM capacity delivery while upholding the company values of safety, quality, schedule, contractual obligations and cost in challenging project environments.

This role is located in one of these hub locations: Atlanta, GA or Phoenix, AZ.

Travel requirements: 50-75%.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

Responsibilities

Business Processes:  

  • Reports to the CO+I Regional Data Center Integration Lead with reporting structure to an EOT Team Lead 

  • Leads data center construction/integration activities on local/campus projects (e.g., new or retrofit data center facilities) and provides key input on all data center fit-out related activities.

  • This position requires a senior level of understanding of Safety, Datacenter Commissioning, Project Management, Telecommunications, and Mission Critical Operations. 

  • Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions. 

  • Development of ITIM reports to best understand and communicate project status. 

  • Development of financial reports to best understand and communicate project status. 

  • Travel required.  

Accountability: 

  • Travel to projects to ensure consistent operations and efficiencies across the region, including project setup, onboarding, training, audit, assessing resource effectiveness, and conducting project health checks. 

  • Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on scope, schedule of the ITIM process for CO+I projects. 

  • Reporting of the ITIM process to management on a regular basis. 

  • Responsible for being able to effectively evaluate project status and develop timely and cost-effective solutions for safe delivery within budget, quality and schedule. 

  • Collaboratively driving solutions to impact successful delivery of projects under challenging conditions. 

  • Work independently in support of the CO+I Program.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Business Management, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years of experience in Data Center construction project management or other Information Technology build outs

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 3+ years experience working on data center projects

  • 2+ years experience managing large scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements arerequired for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMI (Project Management Institute) – PMP (Project Management Professional) certification

  • BICSI RCDD or similar Telecommunications Design/Installation Experience

  • Data Center construction experience

  • Construction Health & Safety Knowledge 

  • Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects.

  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously

  • Ability to work within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants

Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
