We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cyber Security Engineer to join our Ground-Based Sense and Avoid (GBSAA) team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and compliance of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and addressing Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) findings. Networking experience with CISCO and Juniper firewall and switch devices is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Perform continuous monitoring of systems to ensure ongoing compliance with security requirements.
Conduct monthly vulnerability scans on program equipment and ensure timely remediation of identified issues.
Apply and maintain compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to harden systems.
Manage and address outstanding Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) findings, ensuring resolutions are implemented effectively and on time.
Collaborate with team members to ensure all cyber security measures align with organizational policies and industry standards.
Monitor and maintain the performance and security of CISCO and Juniper firewalls and switches.
Provide support for risk management activities, including system security assessments and documentation.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering degree.
3+ years of professional experience in cyber security, software engineering, or a related role.
Strong understanding of vulnerability management and compliance frameworks.
Experience with STIG implementation and POA&M management.
Experience with GitLab or GitHub.
Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus, ACAS, or equivalent.
Intermediate understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and devices.
U.S. Citizenship Required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining CISCO and Juniper firewall and switch devices.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and tools.
Familiarity with RMF (Risk Management Framework) and NIST standards.
Security certifications such as Net+ or CySA+.
Work Environment
This role offers a small company family culture but has the backing and resources of a larger organization. You will work on a fielded system which involves customer updates and briefings with the Army. This position allows you to directly impact the program's success by hardening the system and implementing improvements. You will spend time testing and vetting improvements and remediation in a test lab environment with the majority of your time spent in an office setting.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
