Burns & McDonnell Assistant Project Manager - Remediation (Phoenix, AZ) in Phoenix, Arizona

Description

Burns & McDonnell's Southwest region is seeking a Remediation Assistant Project Manager to manage and support environmental investigation and remediation projects for clients.   • Perform environmental site assessments, logging of soil borings, subsurface soil sampling, installation and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells, data validation and statistical analysis of soil and groundwater data, authoring reports and permit documents.

  • Provide remedial construction site oversight and materials management support, project task management, and other activities, as required.

  • Work with project teams on a variety of tasks, including completion of field surveys, environmental permitting with federal, state and local agencies, review of necessary project reports and materials.

  • Assist the Project Management team to administer request for proposal (RFP) package development, bid and selection process, and develop detailed scope of work documents for downstream contracts.

  • Prepare environmental investigation work plans, reports, feasibility studies, etc.

  • Perform project and task management duties on remediation projects.

  • Subcontractor contracting, scheduling, and management of field activities.

  • Execute and guide environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, soils logging, etc.

  • Regular interfacing with clients to develop relationships, build business, and expand services to new clients.

  • Work within budget and schedule expectations for each project.

  • Assist with the development of internal and external reports including, project budgeting, cost reports, project cash flow forecast, and project status reports to all stakeholders.

  • Travel may be required as necessary and required by project or client commitments.

  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, trainings, and policies, as well as promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years of applicable professional experience completing environmental investigations, analyzing investigation data preparing environmental reports, etc.

  • Experience conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II environmental site investigations, including the collection of soil and groundwater samples, logging soil borings, installing and developing groundwater monitoring wells, data analysis, and authoring reports

  • Experience with emerging contaminants of concern including PFAS and experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) is strongly preferred.

  • Mining experience is a plus.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with and working knowledge of State and Federal Regulations

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with annual updates

  • Self-motivation and the ability to self-manage and multi-task

  • High proficiency using Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others (Owner's, Contractors, Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
