Job Title: Accountant

Job Description

As an Accountant, you will handle large volumes of journal entries, approximately 300 per month, and maintain the General Ledger. Your responsibilities will include running credits and debits, preparing income statements, and supporting balance sheets for assigned product lines. You will also record fixed assets acquisitions and dispositions, allocate operating expenses in the general ledger, and be familiar with both GAAP and Statutory accounting principles for life insurance. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, state-specific filings, and perform monthly bank reconciliations. You will also assist in premium tax filings and provide support to other functional areas of the company as needed, always striving to deliver the highest level of customer service.

Hard Skills

  • Journal Entry expertise

  • Experience with credits and debits

  • Proficiency in General Ledger management

  • Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting rules

  • Proficiency in SAP or another major ERP

  • Excel skills including pivot tables and Vlookups

Soft Skills

  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Customer service orientation

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Environment

The initial 6 months will be office-based, transitioning to a hybrid model with remote work on most Wednesdays. The environment is growth-focused, working within a team of 6 in accounting and 25 in the broader Finance & Accounting team. The company promotes a friendly and flexible work culture.
