General Job Description:

This is administrative and engineering work directing one of the following operations for the Water Department:

  1. The treatment of water for consumption and fire protection, the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plants, the treatment of wastewater and the operation and maintenance of the water pollution control plants;

  2. The delivery of water for consumption and fire protection, the operation and maintenance of the conveyance system, the collection of wastewater and storm water and the operation and maintenance of the wastewater and storm water collection systems;

  3. Planning and research, development services, green stormwater infrastructure, watersheds management and laboratory services;

  4. Design engineering, construction management, capital program administration and/or asset information/developer services.

Contact with other responsibility centers, divisions, other City departments, external governmental agencies, contractors and consultants is an important aspect of the work. Employees in this class report to a higher-level engineering manager.

 

The Requirements are as follows:

1. EDUCATION: Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university, with major course work in engineering.

AND 2. GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Six years of engineering experience at or above the full performance level.

3. SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

Operations Specialty:

Two years of experience performing administrative engineering work directing a major water or wastewater treatment facility or directing the activities of a water conveyance system or wastewater collection system.
