MMC Corp VP/SVP, Actuary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Guy Carpenter's North American Actuarial Advisory team helps our clients deliver on growth and manage changing risk strategies in an ever-changing economic environment. Working with Broking, Strategic Advisory, Peril Advisory, Ratings Advisory, the Chief Actuary's Office and CAT Advisory, we provide our clients solutions to optimize reinsurance placement, increasing capital efficiency and support new growth opportunities. We act as both an advisor and an advocate for our clients and support them in a myriad of ways.

Our team is seeking candidates for the following position located in the New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Morristown, NJ, Minneapolis, Dallas or Chicago office. We have flexibility in level depending on the background of a candidate.

What to expect:

  • At the VP level you will be an individual contributor, who with minimal supervision, builds complex analyses to evaluate assumptions, premiums and risk, analyzes industry factors that affect loss liabilities, and consults with clients on reinsurance actuarial services that assess and mitigate risk.
  • This actuary is a strategic partner with brokers and clients helping to find the solutions to client problems.
  • You need to be able to work hand in hand with the actuarial and broking teams to ensure client and broking needs are met, analytics resources are used appropriately and GC Analytics is supporting and strengthening the relationship with the client.
  • At the SVP level: with minimal supervision you will lead junior resources to build complex analyses to evaluate assumptions, premiums and risk, analyzes industry factors that affect loss liabilities, and consults with clients on reinsurance actuarial services that assess and mitigate risk.
  • You are expected to lead internal actuarial/strategic projects.
  • You will be client facing and expected to present analysis to the client and reinsurance markets.
  • You will work as a client advocate and actuarial advisor to our clients

We will count on you to:

 

 

  • Consult with brokers on client's needs and advise on reinsurance programs based on risk tolerance level and industry trends to help clients mitigate risk
  • Implement complex models/calculations to assess risk and develop pricing and strategies for a range of risk exposures for clients

What you need to have:

 

 

  • ACAS or FCAS with 6+ years in the industry (10+ years at the SVP level)
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Math, Statistics, or related field
  • Pricing, valuation and/or capital modeling experience
  • Visualization skills - Power BI, Tableau or similar
  • Coding experience in programming languages (i.e. Alteryx, R, Python, VBA , SQL)
