Position Summary

At Jacobs our controls team provides a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. The designer will be responsible for providing system design: calculations and other related design services including coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external). The designer will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you. Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to work on complex projects working in conjunction with a technical team.

• Generate studies of alternative control system approaches

• Present building automation system architecture and options to Owners and other stakeholders

• Create schematic deliverables, including Basis of Design narratives describing the system intent

• Supervise the production of drawings and specifications documenting the control systems

• Prepare sequences of operation to control HVAC equipment in an energy-efficient manner

• Select controls equipment (e.g., flowmeters, control valves)

• Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects

• Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks including field inspections and assist in processing RFI's, Change Orders

• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing

• Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork required

• Experience in design building automation systems
