The Research Specialist in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's FELS Institute will provide comprehensive coordination of research projects. Assists Dr. Zachary W. Reichenbach in recruiting patients undergoing colonoscopy from Department of Gastroenterology, TUH. Responsible in getting consents and filling out questionnaires with all the information from the patients; and storage and de-identification of samples until samples are received in the laboratory for further processing. Responsible for drawing blood samples. Primary responsibilities include the coordination of study enrollment, oversight of study protocols, and submission of research activities per IRB regulations. Incumbent will establish and maintain databases of subjects and process informed consent paperwork. Completes questionnaires and determines the eligibility for inclusion of patients in the study. Assist Dr. Reichenbach and other physicians in colorectal tissue collection and draws blood from patients included in the study. Maintains accurate records of all duties per NIH standards. Conducts research data collection including demographic, clinical and social determinants of health. De-identifies samples before transporting to laboratory in Fels. Serves as an authoritative source on research practices, precedents, theory, and principles, and assists with providing clarity in recruitment protocols to junior lab members, such as undergraduate students. Work independently to drive day to day research activities. Support multiple active protocols simultaneously. Work with multiple investigators while adhering with FDA, IRB, Pennsylvania, and related regulations. Performs other duties as assigned Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in life science or health professions field, 2 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: Available to work evenings/weekends. Strong eDC data entry skills. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and program participants. Ability to operate all standard office equipment/software including MS office.
