The Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn LDI) is a mission-driven organization, dedicated to improving health and health care by catalyzing collaborative, multidisciplinary research that influences policy and practice. Penn LDI is powered by a team of dedicated staff who are committed to creating impact through better health policy and health care, and we are currently looking for a new Policy Project Manager to join our team.

The Policy Project Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting and advancing Penn LDI’s policy-related work, including policy-focused events (e.g. seminars and conferences) and connecting LDI’s work and the work of its faculty with government policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels. The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, facile at multitasking, and excel in a fast-paced and results-oriented organization. The Project Manager will use these skills to assist in managing policy-focused projects, including fostering relationships with governmental agencies, policymakers, and legislative and regulatory staff and monitoring and supporting the timely and efficient progress of Penn LDI’s policy-focused events and work. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of LDI’s policy-oriented activities that align with the institution's strategic goals.

**This position is contingent upon continued funding.

Job Description

Project Management:

  • With guidance from the Director of Policy Strategy, help plan, organize, and execute Penn LDI policy-focused events and related projects from inception to completion. This includes tracking and coordinating all event content, communications, speaker preparations, collateral materials, and logistics.

  • Develop and implement efficient processes for monitoring federal, state, and city legislative and executive registers/postings to identify and follow-up on briefing, testimony, nomination opportunities for Penn LDI-affiliated faculty.

  • Research, identify, and track potential new policy opportunities for Penn LDI-affiliated faculty, per upcoming legislation or “hot topics” within health policy.

  • Draft and edit policy-related documents, including event content, reports, presentations, briefing materials, and proposals.

  • Regularly communicate project progress and updates to stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with key partners within the University, federal, state, local governments, and regulatory agencies.

  • Coordinate meetings, events, and briefings with external stakeholders, including meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Policy Strategy and project teams, including budgeting, scheduling, event logistics, analytical reports and dashboards and other related activities.

Assist with additional Institute projects as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area is required. Previous work experience with managing projects is required. Experience with event planning, administration, or a related area is strongly preferred. Familiarity with health care, health policy, population health and/or health services research is strongly preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is a plus.
