Summary of Accountabilities: 1. Patient teaching 2. Resident teaching 3. Operating room responsibilities including endovascular vein harvesting, robotic bypass/valve surgery assistant, insertion of chest tubes, central lines, and other OR procedures 4. First assist 5. Medical intervention 6. Second assist

Machines/Tools & Equipment: Loupe glasses, stethoscope, operating room equipment (provided)

Physical/Working Requirements: Self-motivated, independent, conceptually synthesizes knowledge base to apply to clinical and educational aspects of cardiovascular surgery. Exercises and applies independent judgment in cardiovascular surgical operating rooms. Requires long periods of standing and walking. Also requires extended periods of mental alertness and concentration.

May require continuous periods of standing/walking

May require lifting, pulling, transferring up to 50 lbs

Minimum Certifications, Registry, and/or licenses required: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the American Medical Association. Hold a current and valid physician assistant license in the state of Pennsylvania. Be board certified by the NLLPA.

Degree Requirements and Minimum Experience Required: Masters’ Degree Required

Skill Requirements: Previous cardiac surgery experience required. Prefer CTOR experience.
