Summary This position is located at US Mint,Manufacturing Directorate - Philadelphia - Die Manufacturing Division. As a MACHINIST (DIE MANUFACTURER), you will be manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding parts, products, and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals, alloys, and other materials using a variety of machine tools with minimal supervision. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the WG-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Fabricating parts, products, and other items from blueprints, drawings, instructions, or samples. Troubleshooting CNC machines; editing programs by machining a sample, checking dimensional accuracy, and making corrections through manual input or changes to the program. Planning and laying out work processes using shop mathematics to compute and verify dimensions. Setting-up, programming, operating and maintaining various types of laser equipment used to manufacture edge letter segments, split collars, serialization of coinage dies and texturing proof coinage dies. Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one-year probationary period may be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be able to work all shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. The position handles up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier items with the assistance of material handling devices and other workers. Work is performed on a hard surface with constant standing and walking and occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
