Job Description

DUTIES: Provide technical leadership to a team responsible for functional and performance testing of middleware and backend REST based microservices and database systems that help in powering the video experience on the UI client side; developing and maintaining software test automation framework, including the automated test scripts, which would be used to validate the APIs of different microservices that comprise the X1 Video Platform(XVP) and to ensure APIs’ functionalities are compliant with the specifications agreed upon; leading a team of Software Dev Engineers in Test(SDETs) by reviewing their code and test scripts and enforcing strong quality assurance practices within the team; leading both functional and performance testing of the XVP microservices; writing software code in Java and JavaScript to implement reusable functions that can be used across the software test automation framework to design optimized test scripts; implementing automated test scripts using Karate test automation framework to validate that the APIs are functionally working correctly; assigning tasks to the junior and mid-level SDETs in the team using the tool JIRA; performing code reviews and test script reviews submitted by the junior engineers in the team; conducting performance testing of APIs using API performance testing tools such as K6, Gatling or JMeter load test tool and helping junior team members execute the same; participating in peer review of the test cases; conducting and participating in the daily stand up calls to ensure team is working on the right priorities and no one is blocked on any task; creating Continuous Integration Continuous Deployment(CI/CD) pipelines in CI/CD pipeline tools such as Concourse or Jenkins to trigger automated regression tests on a scheduled basis and upon deployment of new software releases; identifying defects while testing microservices followed by reporting and tracking the defects using JIRA; working closely with software developers to get defects prioritized and fixed; and guiding and mentoring junior-level engineers.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and five (5) years of experience writing test scripts; and working with the following tools and technologies: Agile; Karate, Cucumber, or Rest Assured; Java; JavaScript; K6, Gatling, or JMeter; Jira; Concourse or Jenkins; and Splunk.
