Description

Basic Function - As directed by the Consortium Manager or their designee, role of the BHS Control Room Operator is to constantly monitor the status of the maintained systems and alert Baggage Jam Runners/Manual Encode Operators, Technicians, The Consortium Manager or their designee, and other appropriate stakeholders when situations occur that need their attention. The BHS Control Room Operator shall have a good understanding of the physical system layout and associated controls functionality in order to efficiently manage the baggage flow during the daily operation through the BHS and direct the response staff to the incidents. The BHS Control Room Operator shall fully understand all the functions of the BHS Control Systems, the System Contingency Plan approved by the Consortium Manager, and how to use these functions to monitor, control/manage the operational control functions of the BHS for dispatching appropriate Mechanics/Technicians to troubleshoot and address system faults. Required CRO duties include, but are not limited to the following: * Be the Point of Contact (POC) in the Control Room for that BHS area * Serve as the POC to customers and vendors for that BHS area * Coordinate customer service requirements with maintenance personnel. * Communicate operational issues with all appropriate stakeholders. * Answer phones and enter work orders into CMMS when necessary * Coordinate the scheduling of technicians when appropriate * Input required response and WO information into the CMMS when necessary * Create parts notifications as necessary. * Respond to operational inquires, complaints and issues within (1) minute of being notified * Monitor annunciated alarms and system problems and dispatch appropriate respective personnel within (1) minute of the alarm or problem * Provide expedient notification to airline or airport stakeholders on BSM or flight schedule issues as they relate to the BHS in that area. * Monitor the conveyor line baggage flow balancing, laser array statistics, statistical reports and make-up assignments * Obtain, edit and load flight schedules; * Coordinate schedules to maximize usage resources when necessary * Generate operational reports as required by contract stakeholders * Provide recommendations to improve system efficiency/productivity * Provide reporting for operational and maintenance numbers/challenges including those for read rates and in service percentages * Trend and alert supervision to any reoccurring issues and push toward relentless continuous improvement. * Comply with the company safety program and training and maintain a clean, neat and orderly work environment. * Monitor Graphical User Interface items and other equipment within hat BHS area including but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers, Scanners, Servers and associated applications and processing of BSMs. * Clean and monitor scanner arrays around the CR location as time permits * Be knowledgeable on PLC(s), Scanner arrays and servers within the system and assist the OEM and techs to resolve problems in the baggage system. * Make BHS operational decisions, initiating and coordinating implementation of any backup/fallback procedures necessary to allow continued operations (e.g., choosing alternative routings via reversible conveyors, initiating use of Fallback tags, coordination with user airlines); * Interface directly with the user airlines, airport, PhiliTEC and the TSA; * Ensure smooth daily start-ups by reviewing start-up check lists and procedures; * Assume the responsibility monitoring of the BHS via the BHS Management Information System ("MIS") and Maintenance Diagnostics System ("MDS") during the system's operational period. * Assist in the training of others. Needed Skills: 24/7 operations; night and weekend shift work required. Familiarity with a variety of airport operational concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to handle sensitive documents and proprietary information in a confidential manner. Ability to operate and functionally use a computer. Ability to read and comprehend complicated materials and instructions (English) and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing (English). Ability to work accurately despite multiple interruptions and frequent activity and/or workload changes during a typical working day. Ability to work on a flexible schedule. Ability to take direction. Ability to multi-task. Ability to prioritize tasks. Detail and safety-oriented. Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors. Ability to drive and maintain a safe driving record. Valid state driver's license (any in US). In possession of appropriate paperwork to gain and maintain employment in the US. Ability to meet worksite security requirements. Education/Experience Minimum: Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role of similar size and complexity of system(s) for Baggage and/or Control room operations. Education and/or experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED or relevant work related experience. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant work-related experience. Familiarity with a variety of the airport's operational concepts, practices, and procedures. Must be able to handle sensitive documents* and proprietary information in a confidential manner. Ability to operate and functionally use a computer. Communication skills. Must be able to read and comprehend complicated materials and instructions and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Regularly requires a high degree of mental effort due to considerable interruptions and/or frequent changes of activity to workloads during a typical working day.
