POSITION SUMMARY Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) has been serving the community since 1899. We are currently seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Generalist. This role is based in Philadelphia, PA, with responsibilities extending to our campuses in Suwanee and Moultrie, Georgia. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director will assist in various aspects of financial aid administration, with a focus on federal work-study and federal loans. The incumbent will also counsel both current and prospective students on the financial aid programs available, including federal, state, institutional, and private aid. Additionally, they will contribute to the campus's financial literacy initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Counseling: Provide comprehensive financial aid counseling for prospective and enrolled students, including budget appeals, loan advances, Return of Title IV funds, Graduate PLUS processing, verification, resolution of C Comment codes, awarding outside scholarships, and exit counseling. Deliver loan and financial literacy counseling to guide students in making informed borrowing decisions and assist them in understanding various loan repayment options. Respond promptly and professionally to student inquiries, proactively addressing and resolving any issues. Stay current with financial aid regulations and updates to PCOM's policies and procedures. Program Management: Assist in the administration of the federal direct loan program, disbursing over $160 million in funding annually. Support the federal work-study program, which awards over $1.5 million annually. Contribute to the financial literacy program, including conducting institutional exit counseling. Review Argos and Banner reports regularly to ensure the accuracy and quality of financial aid processing. Assist the Associate Director in the overall administration of federal, state, institutional, and private aid programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities: Ensure effective operation within the Student Financial Aid Office by developing and recommending student financial aid policy. Help assure accurate information about various financial aid sources is provided to students by assisting in the training of financial aid professionals. Support the University's enrollment management plan by managing the area of responsibility in alignment with recruitment and retention goals. Prevent institutional liability and ensure University compliance with federal and state regulations governing financial aid by maintaining current knowledge and revising the University's Policy and Procedure Manual of Financial Aid as necessary. Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and participating in training and/or courses as required by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree (required). Skills and Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in financial aid. Proficiency with electronic student information systems (Banner preferred). Strong knowledge of federal financial aid regulations. Demonstrated commitment to exemplary customer service and student counseling. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects efficiently with attention to detail. Excellent communication and writing skills.
