Elite Contracting Group Concrete QA/QC Specialist in Petersburg, Virginia
Heartland Concrete is seeking a Concrete QA/QC Specialist to join our team. Heartland is a specialty concrete producer that operates a fleet of fifteen High Performance Volumetric Mobile Mixers supplying contractors and sub-contractors on roadways, bridges, and airports throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Responsibilities:
Submit mix designs for approval
Assist our contractor and subcontractor customers in selecting the proper concrete mix to meet their project specifications
Provide submittals as required to our customers in a timely manner
Perform sampling and testing of concrete and concrete materials to ensure they meet specifications
Resolve customer complaints
Provide concrete troubleshooting including corrective action to eliminate future failures
Conduct random pour site visits to monitor Heartland’s pouring processes, the Inspector’s testing procedures and the contractor’s placing and finishing to confirm adherence to specifications
Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and quality control activities
Assist our Supervisors in trail batching as needed
Participate in training our employees as needed
Assist GM on proposals as needed
Accompany GM on sales calls as needed
Learn how to calibrate and operate our Volumetric Mobile Mixers
Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
At least five years’ experience in the Concrete QA/QC Field
ACI Level I and/or Level II Certification
VDOT Concrete Plant Certification
Working knowledge of the 2020 VDOT Roads and Bridges Specifications
Working knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO Concrete related specifications
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 pounds of material
Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, reach and climb
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to travel in support of any out of town projects
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
Must maintain a satisfactory background record
Must be able to pass a drug test
