Estimator II

Essential Responsibilities

• Material take-off and quantity surveying

• Solicitation of subcontractors and suppliers

• Gathers, calculates and compiles data for use in conceptual/bid estimates.

• Attend pre-bid meetings, perform site assessments, and analyze specifications, statements of work, and other documentation to prepare thorough, accurate, and timely estimates of time, cost, and labor

• Provide detailed scoping of assigned projects

• Prepare bid packages for subcontractors and vendors

• Analysis of subcontractor/vendor bids.

• Development of preliminary bid/project schedules

• Assist Preconstruction Coordinator in the development of written proposals

• Take projects to budget and turn over projects to construction

• Understand and apply means and methods

• Understand and apply productivity to work items for various trades

• Prepare routine estimates of low to medium complexity, generally under $10M, or single discipline estimates of a similar magnitude of as part of a larger project, with little oversight from Senior/Lead Estimator or Chief Estimator.

• Interfaces with A/E’s, contractors, and owners to provide cost data.

• Provide takeoff, perform and/or assist with solicitations, and support Senior Estimators on larger projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Coordinate efforts of field engineers assigned to individual projects.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent analytical and planning skills, good communication skills, and be knowledgeable and proficient with computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and database software systems. A solid background in Sage Estimating is preferred.

• Ability to estimate multiple projects simultaneously with proven time management skills. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team. Attention to detail and proven problem solving skills.

• Familiarity with MF2014

Education

• B.S. Degree in Construction Management and/or Engineering or six (6) years of construction experience or equivalent background is required.

Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Leadership skills required and proven ability to lead a small team to successfully achieve a common goal.

• Must have excellent analytical and planning skills, good communication skills, and be knowledgeable and proficient with computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and database software systems. A good background in Timberline estimating is preferred

• Ability to estimate multiple projects simultaneously with proven time management skills

• Demonstrated experience estimating a broad range of subcontracted and self-perform work activities with an emphasis in the following project types: Industrial, Healthcare, Commercial, both Public and Federal Healthcare/Institutional, etc.

• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team. Attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with MF2014

• Working over 40 hours per week may be required
