**[SUMMARY[: [This is a trainee level position which provides transition into the position of Fire Fighter/EMT. Employees are hired into this position for a probationary period while completing all certifications required for the Fire Fighter/EMT position. Upon completion the employee would be reclassified as a Fire Fighter/EMT. Responsibilities associated with the position will increase as certification are completed.

• Attending fire academy for Florida Fire Fighter II certification.
• Attending Emergency Medical Technician course.
• Maintain a valid, Florida Class E drivers license.
• Maintenance of fire station and grounds.
• Inspect and start up all fire fighting and rescue equipment daily, repair/replace as necessary.
• Participate in in-service training and practices.
• Complete and maintain logs, forms, and reports of activities.
• Possess knowledge of water mains, fire hydrants, and major fire hazards.
• Participate in pre-fire planning.
• Possess geographic knowledge of the City and County.
• Ascertain that all medical supplies for BLS patient care are in place on all units before start of shift.
• Must meet proficiency standards.
• Any other reasonable duties deemed necessary by supervisor.
