As a Development & Research Senior Technologist, you will be a contributor to the planning, concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes. You will have the opportunity to perform analysis of concepts, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts.

You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, and communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Decisions made may affect the project team and delivery of the project. Customers can include US Department of Defense and Federal agencies, as well as international allied militaries, Caterpillar dealers and third-party governmental marketing and sales organizations.

What You Will Do:

  • Assisting in providing product development technical and project management interface to management and internal clients.

  • Evaluate, design, and promote new products, components, processes, or systems

  • Testing products, analyzing test data and making modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.

  • Contribute to the design of new products, and processes

  • Provide technical guidance on product and process maintenance.

  • Work closely with and communicate concepts and results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units

  • Collaborate with suppliers and monitor and evaluate supplier quality.

  • Work with Trade COE team to classify and release Cat Defense parts and products

  • Technical lead (Teamcenter Captain) for Cat Defense releasing processes.

Travel (domestic and international) is required up to 10% to monitor and resolve issues regarding customer satisfaction, future product needs, and oversee supplier and subcontractor execution and quality.

  • Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.

  • Engine L3, L4, and / or L5 design experience is highly desired

  • Caterpillar NPI process experience (internal only) is desired

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Level Basic Understanding:

  • Discusses the relevance of standards for a manufacturing environment.

  • Researches process and product blueprints for own area.

  • Describes and follows all policies, standards and procedures.

  • Obtains documentation and information on standards and their usage.

  • Familiarity with Cat Defense and/or U.S. Military processes and product requirements.

Degree Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering curriculum or equivalent experience with an Associate's degree.

Basic Qualifications

  • Extensive Caterpillar Marine or Electric Power Engine design experience required

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar engine product line and experience with Caterpillar engineering and production systems

  • Strong technical and analytical skills

  • Pro Engineer (CREO) and associated PLM (Teamcenter Engineering) Experience

  • Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks

This position involves items or information which may be subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or controlled for national security or other reasons under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
