Job Overview

This position establishes and manages the policies, procedures, and measurements by which the quality of parts and components provided by our suppliers are measured against. This position will manage the PMO Supplier Quality Department in their efforts to review, audit, and recommend improvements to the qualtiy processes used by our suppliers.

Scope

This position is responsible to maintain and improve PMO QC indices which are used to measure the quality of our suppliers and the effect of that quality measurement on PMO productivity and cost. Indices which may be used are: supplier performance (defect ratio) and purchased component quality (BIS issues).

This position will be responsible for the quality performance of 41 key suppliers with annual parts value in excess of $200 million. (Overall supplier base if 480+ suppliers with value of excess of $240 million). The quality assurance plans of key supplies will be audited on a regular basis. Improvement plans will be developed/implemented and the effects of these plans will be measured.

This position will assist in the selection of new suppliers by directing the auditing of the potential suppliers policies and procedures. Based upon the audit results recommendations will be made to accept or reject the supplier.

Manage the overall direction of the Supplier Quality department = 5 people including the manager.

Manage the Supplier Quality Departmental budget =$1+ million

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Communicate to existing suppliers PMO expectations, goals and quality measurements.

  • Introduce and implement new performance improvement directives to suppliers.

  • Manage the development and implementation of resolution action plans for supplier quality issues. Issue SCAR (supplier corrective action reports) to document action plans and resolution.

  • Establish a system to maintain quality certification documentation provided by the suppliers.

  • Manage department annual capacity cost plans and implement necessary actions.

  • Manage the audit of quality policies, practices, facilities and capabilities of prospective new suppliers and put forth recommendations to accept or reject.

  • Establish yearly targets for QC Indices and manage the programs and activities to achieve the goals.

  • Assist in the implementation of IS014001, ISO9001 and other industry standards within PMO as team member.

  • Direct and guide the supplier quality activities of other PMO departments to improve the quality of the parts and components.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Quality management with 5 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing, supplier development and quality control.

  • Knowledge of heavy industry manufacturing is required, knowledge of construction and mining equipment preferred.

  • Strong background in heavy and medium fabrication preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices and procedures and industry standards is required. Working knowledge of Supplier development is also required.

  • Persuasive communication skills, as well as ability to interface with all levels of people.

  • Excellent presentation and writing skills.

  • Strong working skills with computers (spreadsheets, data bases, etc.).

  • Strong analytical skills (economic and analysis).

  • Strong organizational skills.

Additional Information

Pay: $112,720 - $140,900

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

No two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range for the role. Hiring at the higher of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
