Immediate Office of the Chief of Naval Operations OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST in Pentagon, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST in the FLEET READINESS BRANCH of IMMEDIATE OFC OF CHIEF OF NVL OPS. Responsibilities You will provide subject matter expertise with responsibility for development, sustainment, and governance of the U.S. Navy readiness analytical models. You will develop new algorithms and tools to support data manipulation and findings. You will advise on relevant research and analytical studies to resolve critical operational problems and readiness initiatives. You will provide readiness-related briefings to senior level officials and submit mandatory reports. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing the automation and transmission of data; 2) Identifying methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from various structured and unstructured data sets; 3) Applying knowledge in mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and other scientific principles, data analysis, and data visualization; and 4) Interpreting policies promulgated from higher authorities and briefs. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must posses: Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
