THE POSITION
Do you have a background in construction and bridge inspection? If yes, this could be the ideal opportunity for you! The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Engineering District 2-0 is seeking skilled professionals to take on the role of Transportation Construction Manager 1. In this position, you will play a key role in the department's achievements by planning, directing, coordinating, and managing inspection activities. Working closely with bridge inspection teams, you will help ensure that the district effectively meets its objectives. Your collaboration will be vital in maintaining high standards and achieving successful outcomes in various projects. Your expertise could make a significant difference in shaping the future of our bridge infrastructure.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and management of both state and local bridge inspection programs. Your role involves collaborating with team members and supporting county maintenance organizations, the bridge maintenance coordinator, and the municipal services supervisor. You will also help evaluate the costs and scope of local bridge inspection contracts and assist in preparing underwater inspection work orders.
Additionally, you will review and approve submissions from consultants, monitor their performance, and verify invoices for payment. You will supervise bridge inspection team leaders and staff as needed, ensuring the accuracy of data from all inspection teams before it is entered into the Bridge Management System. Your responsibilities include maintaining the computerized system, reviewing inspections to meet departmental and Federal Highway Administration standards, and generating special reports to aid the bridge inspection team and inform bridge replacement or rehabilitation projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor; or
Four years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training. Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation. An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
