THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care by assisting and supervising patients with their daily activities, tailored to their unique needs. Your responsibilities will include taking and documenting vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure, as well as monitoring and reporting any changes in the patient’s behavior or health. Additionally, you will respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies, offering individual assistance and implementing emergency treatment procedures. Interaction with patients and their families, as well as maintaining a professional demeanor with colleagues, is essential. You will also engage in ongoing DHS, hospital, and departmental training programs, including in-service training sessions and self-learning modules.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

  • Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM), with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Hours of work during training are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)

  • You will work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays as assigned.

  • May change based on operational needs.

  • Overtime and travel may be required as needed.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (commonwealth title); or

  • Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or

  • Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
