We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in the Greater Philadelphia area. The Opportunity ... Purpose: Provides technical assistance in the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of Automated Guided Vehicles(AGVs). Provides support for and guides Operations by understanding, promoting, and applying Lean principles. Works with management as well as staff in Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to meet company objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Manages Manufacturing Engineering Department ▪ Oversees a team of Manufacturing Engineers who are responsible for providing engineering guidance through the assembly and testing of AGVs ▪ Works closely with Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality to provide immediate corrective actions to design and supplier issues. ▪ Owns JIRA Production Project for documenting issues which arise during production and testing. ▪ Participates in Daily Gemba Meetings to report on status of builds. ▪ Works directly with assembly and test teams to meet production metrics, including OTD, cost and quality, by providing mechanical and electrical guidance, as necessary. ▪ Participates in design reviews. ▪ Develops work instructions to standardize manufacturing and assembly processes • Works directly with engineering to develop standardized products considering factors such as: ▪ Design for Manufacturability (DFM) ▪ Serviceability ▪ Quality and accessibility of technical documentation ▪ Cost ▪ Standard operation times • Participates in Continuous Improvement Activities ▪ Works with selected plant management on how to develop a Lean mindset and Lean oriented processes to improve efficiency and standardize work. ▪ Recommends product and process improvements to improve cost, quality, and timing. ▪ Recommends tools and tooling to improve quality, ease of manufacturing and reduce assembly time. ▪ Develops visual controls to reinforce processes. ▪ Provides input on the production floor layout. Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Traits: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or Technology • Ability to read, interpret and prepare applicable technical information including wiring harnesses drawings, electrical schematics, assembly drawings and fabrication drawings • Understands and can troubleshoot hydraulic circuits • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Creo or other solid modeling software package • Experience in one piece flow, Cellular manufacturing, Lean Enterprise • Ability to support the direction of the business with actions and attitude • Creates and maintains a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment • Promotes a “can do” attitude • Loves RCI! • Exposure to assembly, metal fabrication, finishing, welding equipment and processes • Exposure to wire harness assembly and panel building Experience: • 5 years of experience in manufacturing. ▪ Experience in manufacturing of industrial equipment is preferred • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus. • Experience with MRP systems is a plus. • Management, supervisory, or leadership experience is preferred. Responsibilities/Demands: Supervisory Responsibility: Directly supervives 2-4 Manufacturing Engineers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Schedules overtime and vacation and completes performance appraisals. Financial Responsibility: Responsible for reviewing and approving expense reports for direct reports. Oversees capital project for improvements to the production facility. Work Environment: Time is split between manufacturing and office environments. Travel to PA office/manufacturing site or customer sites may be required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
