DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for new construction, repairs, and the ongoing maintenance of our existing buildings and facilities. You will manage both large and small-scale maintenance and repair projects, working across a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting, and masonry. Your key duties will include:

  • Performing maintenance and repairs on buildings, including floors, stairs, windows, cabinets, and doors.

  • Installing and repairing various flooring types, such as vinyl composition tile, ceramic tile, sheet vinyl, epoxy, wood, linoleum, marble, and granite.

  • Preparing and painting interior and exterior surfaces.

  • Mixing and pouring cement into forms, as well as repairing sidewalks, patios, steps, porches, walls, and culverts.

  • Operating and maintaining equipment, ensuring it is in good working order by conducting minor repairs and performing preventative maintenance, such as cleaning, adjusting, and oiling.

  • Determining appropriate work methods and solutions based on the scope of assigned tasks.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or

  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

    Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

    Additional Requirement:

  • You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade

  • Experience in building and plant maintenance work

  • Experience in commercial carpentry

  • Experience in the plumbing trade

  • Experience working in the electrical trade field

  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems

  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment

  • Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels

  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters

  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings

  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
