Panasonic North America Group Manager, Product Planning in Peachtree City, Georgia

Overview

This key position functions as the technical advisor to CTO and AE leadership. They lead technical and commercial discussions with OEM’s and non-traditional customers for pursuits, and roadmap items for IVI, CDC and HPC products. Manages people, budget, & process activities of the Product Planning teams within the Advanced Engineering division on various research and development programs.

Responsibilities

YOUR MISSION:

This key position functions as the technical advisor to CTO and AE leadership. They lead technical and commercial discussions with OEM’s and non-traditional customers for pursuits, and roadmap items for IVI, CDC and HPC products. Manages people, budget, & process activities of the Product Planning teams within the Advanced Engineering division on various research and development programs.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Manages Product Planning (PP) group level proposals in determining customer requirements and demand for new and existing products/technologies, research and development strategies, technologies feasibility, cost effectiveness.

  • Researches the new technologies, product and business areas, provides the latest information to Automotive R&D division and business units and identifies opportunities for business development.

  • Identifies the key players including startups, and Panasonic Japan, for each focused technology and product development area, makes strategic plan for POC (Proof of Concept) projects and early engagement with selected partners for technology evaluation and potential product development.

  • Conducts and manages the POC projects between joint internal departments and strategic partners (startups), as well as Panasonic Japan.

  • Leads organizational review and redesign activities at the group level by identifying improvements in workflow, procedures, structures and systems and realign them to fit current and future product & business realities better.

  • Integrates people with core business processes, technology and systems.

  • Leads strategies to develop internal talent while balancing that effort with external hiring; targets challenging developmental assignments that build individual confidence and organizational capability.

  • Ensures that those responsible for implementing a strategic initiative have role clarity and accountability for required actions and outputs as well as the authority to act in a way consistent with organizational values.

  • Ensure that all individuals within the Product Planning group and R&D division are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support higher levels of performance and ongoing development of their skills. This includes the management of underperformers.

MUST-HAVES:

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Business, computer science, or equivalent technical degree or diploma program.

  • Ten (10) years of direct R&D and engineering design related experience in automotive or electronics industry, utilizing any of the Systems, Software, Electrical or Mechanical development roles.

  • Five (5) years of demonstrated budget and talent management experiences, preferably leading R&D and engineering project teams.
