Position: Biology Graduate Assistant
Status: Part-time, (20hrs/week)

Compensation: Stipend, Room, and Tuition
Stipend is $5000/semester and tuition scholarship is 100%, but students are responsible for program fees, including textbook fees charged each semester, and meals during residencies.
Description:
The Biology Graduate Assistant will serve as a Teaching Assistant primarily for introductory biology lab courses (Bio 111 and 113). The successful candidate will lead multiple lab sessions each week, in addition to shadowing the lead lab instructor and attending organizational meetings/lectures as necessary. This position is an opportunity to gain teaching experience, to contribute to ongoing research on plankton communities in Lower St. Regis Lake, and to contribute to a positive learning environment for undergraduate students.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead weekly lab sessions, provide demonstrations, and facilitate hands-on activities to reinforce concepts discussed in lectures.
Grade assignments, quizzes, and exams in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback to students to facilitate their learning and academic growth.
Assist in the development and updating of course materials, including lab exercises, assignments, and supplementary resources.
Collaborate with faculty members to develop new instructional materials, innovative teaching approaches, and assessment strategies.
Attend regular meetings with faculty supervisors to discuss course progress, student performance, and instructional strategies.
Assist with other duties as needed, including driving vans to support academic programming, or assigned by the Assistant Professor of Physical and Biological Sciences.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution and enrollment in Paul Smith’s College Master’s degree programs.
Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community.
Should be highly motivated, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a passion for teaching and learning.
Candidates must be able to work on campus (not remote).
Driver’s license and driving record acceptable to PSC insurance carrier is preferred.
