Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Parsippany, New Jersey

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in the Government industry, located in Parsippany, New Jersey, United States. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing the accounts payable function, maintaining accurate vendor records, and ensuring timely payments. The role will also involve assisting with the third-party invoicing system and providing internal customer service support to all departments.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring timely payments of vendor invoices and expenses.

• Maintain accurate records and control reports associated with vendor transactions.

• Support the setup of vendors in the invoicing portal and the financial system.

• Handle communication with outside vendors regarding payments and statement reconciliation.

• Assist with the distribution of checks and ensure compliance with approved policies.

• Process the Import Manager file within Epicor for validation of hand-off reports for payment.

• Assist with fund distributions and provide necessary reporting for internal departments.

• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in line with company policy and accepted accounting practices.

• Assist in the establishment and accuracy of all recurring payments and identify areas for process improvements and cost savings.

• Prepare coding upload documents for large multi-department invoices and assist in month end Accounts Payable and company year-end closing. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is essential

• Familiarity with Account Coding is required

• Must have experience in Accounts Payable (AP)

• Strong auditing skills are necessary

• Experience with Automated Clearing House (ACH) is needed

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is crucial

• A background in the government sector is preferable

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required

• Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently

• Must have problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

• Knowledge of government accounting principles and procedures is a plus

• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in business relationships

• Must demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in all activities.
