Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs Accounting Technician (Collections) in Parker, Arizona

Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Colorado River Agency in Parker, Arizona. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE. Responsibilities Processes all remittances and collections received (mail, night-drop, Pay.gov, credit card, check money orders) are sorted, examined, recorded and receipt issued all in accordance with established local procedures, federal government regulation, Law & policy. Ensures accuracy and completeness of collections and recordation into the automated billing system. Performs daily balancing of drawer receipts with automated system edit and hard copy receipts and submits in sufficient time to compile deposit. Ensures collections records are in compliance with Bureau of Indian Affairs Manual (BIAM) including performance of quarterly collection officer. Prepares collection status and other reports, at least monthly, to publish accuracy and timeliness of accepted, recorded and deposited collections. This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Grade-(06) Ability to apply knowledge of accounting principles, practices and techniques, must have 1 year of specialized experience at next lower grade or equivalent. Specialized Experience: Analyzing and researching to resolve financial account discrepancies and errors of customer payments and deposits; preparing schedule of collection and balance remittance for customer payments and deposits; recognizing various financial transactions by tracking obligations and expenditures; and utilizing automated accounting and billing system to produce reports. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472).
