Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

HSS Orthopedics Now

4 days a week (hybrid schedule)

Overview:

The HSS Orthopedics Now program provides consistent, immediate access for patients 12 years and older with an undiagnosed musculoskeletal injury or sudden onset of pain to be triaged, receive an initial diagnosis, and if appropriate, quickly connected to the right subspecialized level of care.

The HSS Orthopedics Now Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) sees patients at HSS Paramus to triage, diagnose, treat, and when needed, refer patients to a higher level of care in an expedited timeframe.

The NP/PA sees patients independently, in collaboration with, and with the support of HSS physicians. The NP/PA is an advanced practice provider who is licensed to practice medicine and provides a full range or primary, acute, and specialty healthcare services. The NP/PA is responsible for diagnosing and treating acute musculoskeletal injuries including, but not limited to:

  • Bone, joint, or muscle injuries

  • Strains, sprains, minor dislocations, and closed fractures

  • Painful, swollen, or injured joints

  • Back and neck pain

  • Osteoarthritis (OA)

  • Pediatric injuries (12 years of age and older)

  • Sports Injuries

  • Steroid injections and joint aspirations

  • General bracing and splinting

Qualifications

Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) NPs/PAs are committed to personalized, high-quality healthcare and are held to the same legal and ethical standards of care as physicians and surgeons.

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Obtains/Maintains NP licenses in New York

  • Obtains/Maintains board certification as a NP in specialty area of practice

  • Experience with injections, aspirations, and casting

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years working in the field of orthopedics

  • BLS via American Heart Association

    Physician Assistant:

  • Obtains/Maintains PA license in New York

  • Obtains/Maintains current NCCPA certification

  • Experience with injections, aspirations, and casting

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years working in the field of orthopedics

  • BLS via American Heart Association

  • Candidate must have current Infection Control Certification and have completed a child abuse recognition course.

    Both:

  • Utilizes evidence-based practice

  • Committed to best practices; maintains clinical competency

  • Promotes quality healthcare; seeks to improve and impact clinical outcomes

  • Engaged in self –directed continued learning and professional development

  • Leads and participates in both professional and lay healthcare forums, conducts research, and applies findings to clinical practice

    Previous experience in orthopedics is highly desired but not required.

USD $133,629.00/Yr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $154,964.00/Yr.
