Location: Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite at Palo Alto, CA or New York City, NY

In your role as Senior Data Engineer at Kohler Ventures you will:

  • Work directly with the Head of Software, software engineering team, and product teams.

  • Design and Implement Data Systems: You will design and implement systems that handle the generation, ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving of data1.

  • Data Lifecycle Management: Manage the complete lifecycle of data, ensuring its availability and integrity throughout the stages of generation, ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving.

  • Data Quality and Consistency: Ensure the high quality and consistency of data through rigorous testing and validation.

  • Optimization: Continuously optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.

  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance the capabilities of the data platform.

  • Data Governance: Implement data governance and security measures to protect sensitive information and comply with regulatory requirements.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in software design and development for Data Systems or in a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

  • Availability to work outside of standard business hours if needed to be able to collaborate with teams across multiple time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data warehousing solutions.

  • Familiarity with data modeling, ETL processes, and SQL.

  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical and management information clearly and concisely.

The approved base salary range for this position is $124,450 - $158,550. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may be higher than the approved range. This will vary depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This position is subject to Area Salary Differential (Cost of Living Adjustment) that ranges from 24.5%-30% of base salary for the San Francisco Bay area. The approved base salary range including ASD for this position is $161,785 - $206,115 depending on location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and a special project incentive. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision and 401k.
