Amazon Software Development Manager, Campaign Management in Palo Alto, California

Description

Advertisers will spend tens of billion dollars this year leveraging Amazon advertising this year to help grow their business. We support advertisers in their goals by building industry standard advertiser controls (demand), with an open data plane serving need on ever-growing number of Ad serving channels (supply). Our services support all Sponsored Ads programs and all Display Ad programs. You can think of our team as the brain and nervous system of all the advertisements with Amazon.

We are now designing and building the next generation systems for a unified set of campaign management APIs with a global experience for multi-regional operations, auto-scalable campaign management storage and publishing pipeline capable of handling massive amounts of data per day and growing from there.

We are currently looking for a software development manager to help us deliver a unified set of campaign APIs created on a open and extensible campaign data model to accelerate the pace of new feature development for 1P/3P partners. This is a unique opportunity to innovate and build some of the world’s most resilient large-scale systems from the ground up.

In this position, you’ll do these things:

· Lead and grow teams of talented software engineers

· You will serve as a leader who defines the group’s priorities and vision to create and enhance software services that advertisers across the world use to enhance discoverability for all the products they sell online

· Define and manage the roadmap for your services - in consultation with product managers helping our advertisers reach new markets and build a strong brand presence

· Collaborate with and learn from other software professionals to drive customer value

We hold ourselves to high standards of service and availability so we can operate efficiently at scale and high velocity distributed system that service 100’s of millions of API requests per day, steam data at PB scale, process business logic on tight latency budgets, all while streaming and the data at high fidelity to 20+ other services. We stand up world class CI/CD pipelines to deploy our service automating infrastructure provisioning, high volume load testing and first-rate monitoring so our engineers can keep their heads down inventing for our advertisers.

Our team uses the latest AWS products and services to solve our problems including but not limited to: ECS, Fargate, EC2, EMR, Lambda, Kafka, Elastic Search, Dynamo DB, SQS, SNS, Cloud watch, CDK, Cloud Formation and many more.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
