A Brief Overview

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees and reports on the day to day activities of the Pharmacy Technicians and serves as a front-line resource for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists on day-to-day issues that arise. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is actively involved in the training and development process for pharmacy technicians and assists in the development of policies and procedures specific to the practice site and is responsible for facilitating the daily operations of the pharmacy. This position also assists licensed Pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy serving as a role model for other technicians through added responsibilities, specialization in pharmacy practice, demonstrating leadership and initiative, and fulfilling the needs of the department and the Medical Center.

Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for Swisslog Box Pick and Pill Pick, and Omnicell operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the department. Performs full supervision of operations staff.

What you will do

  • Establishes the responsibilities and schedules to be assigned to technicians. Develops the measures and monitors the workflow to track the timeliness of completion and efficiency of result and communicates it to Pharmacy management.

  • Update and maintain a master schedule with daily alterations, transactions and sick leave.

  • Participate actively in assessment and constant improvement of patient services, processes and policies.

  • Create a training program for new employees to follow during the period of training.

  • Maintain acquaintance with each position so as to be proficient in offering firsthand orientation to new technicians.

  • Evaluates need for new equipment and tools. Maintains medication inventory, monitors turnover and is in charge of ordering and stocking.

  • Mentors and coaches staff regarding the role that pharmacy technicians play in fulfilling the Department's mission, and the mission of Stanford Hospital and Clinics.

  • Utilizes polite and professional customer-focused methods relating with patients, visitors, and staff (C-I-CARE).

  • Evaluates and conducts employee performance reviews. Responsible for and has the authority to hire and fire direct reports.

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program

Experience Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $37.42 - $48.65 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
