Position Overview:
Integrates advanced knowledge, theory and practice to serve as a subject matter expert in assigned areas of the laboratory. With advanced training and education, maintains competence in all histology practices to perform pre-analytic and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease. Participates in, and coordinates all aspects of, the daily operation of the assigned laboratory areas. Monitors, assesses, organizes and coordinates the daily activities of co-workers to ensure a smooth and continuous workflow overall, or within an assigned area. Duties routinely include staff scheduling, arranging coverage for staff absences, assigning work, prioritizing work, directing problem-solving and trouble-shooting, ensuring shift-to-shift continuity, and managing customer complaints or inquiries.

EDUCATION:
HS Diploma: High School Diploma or General Education (GED)
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
4 years recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated subject matter expertise and superior technical competence in specimen collection and processing, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in histology.
Quantity of Work: Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for self and team to insure completion within expected time-frames.
Quality of Work: Ability to lead team to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks. Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving relevant to own and team's assigned duties.
Culturally Competent Communication: Ability to compassionately and effectively interact individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors.
Workflow Management: Ability to coordinate team's efforts to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume, unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failures, shift-to-shift hand-offs, priority test orders, and specimen integrity issues.
Adherence to Practices & Procedures: Ability to direct team to follow standard practices, processes, and procedures in sequence. Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures aimed at ensuring the privacy and safety of patients.
Mentoring/Developing: Ability to train; provide constructive feedback and recognition to; mentor and coach peers, reinforcing Sutter's values and focusing team's efforts on providing safe, reliable care.

Pay Range is $54.29 to $67.85 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
