Head of Commerce Products, SAP Customer Experience – Engineering and Operations

Location: North America or Germany preferred; other locations will be considered on a case by case basis

Role Description

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, SAP CX, the Head of Commerce Products within the SAP Customer Experience – Engineering and Operations organization has product responsibility and is part of the Commerce Engineering and Product Management teams. Commerce is one of the most strategic products for the success of SAP Customer Experience from a revenue perspective. The role includes close alignment with the related teams such as Support and Operations for Commerce. As a seasoned leader in the software development industry, the Head of Commerce Products will act as thought-leader in the market and shape together with the leadership team the future of commerce in the market. The candidate will define the positioning, work closely with GTM and align with customers to build a competitive, market-winning solution. Also, working with analysts, media and other communities is part of the job.

The candidate will contribute to the analysis and shaping of the Commerce product portfolio, and decide both about investments and disinvestments, which includes sunset decisions. There is an urgent need for a strategic positioning of our Commerce products, both the existing ones as well as the planned ones. There needs to be a clearly defined and with Customer Success aligned GTM and Sales plan to make sure to not confuse the market and create a winning position.

Moreover, a cloud-native mindset and a great understanding of the CRM market and the entire SAP CX product portfolio are a must. This is a strategic hire and the candidate has a key role to play in the global CX Commerce leadership team and the entire CX organization. CX Commerce overall is an organization consisting of around 400 employees globally.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Align the CX agenda with other areas and collaborate with other leaders in CX Engineering & Operations. Build a product vision and strategy that will delight customers and meet business goals and revenue targets. Collect requirements both from internal field stakeholders and external customers to define best-in-class functionality. Manage the Commerce products from product idea to product sunset. Successful candidate will be a thought-leader in latest cloud native technology to renovate part of the portfolio as well as define the way forward.

  • Leadership: Be the expert on the domain, market, and trends to drive innovation and new ways of thinking. Make and own critical decisions and be proactive in foreseeing and resolving issues. Lead product management and engineering teams to build out the Commerce products as part of the SAP CX product portfolio

  • Team & Resources: Build and develop a strong product management team that can deliver the next phase of customer experiences and innovation. Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, and excellence, with a constant focus on doing what is right for our customers and the business. Ensure teams are empowered to deliver with clear priorities and accountability, and the right resources and tools. Ability to lead the team through change effectively.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across product and business teams to drive the entire product lifecycle, define appropriate partnership strategies, and build easy-to-adopt models for our customers. Partner with go-to-market, product marketing, and field teams to drive awareness and thought leadership in the market. Be the champion and voice of customers to drive their success.

  • Operations & Scale Drive operational rigor, flexible processes, and best practices that can scale with rapid growth, especially as it relates to the product roadmap.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate for SAP Customer Experience E&O – Head of Commerce Products will bring the following experience and attributes:

  • The ideal candidate must be an accomplished senior leader, with a sound reputation and a consistent successful track record in achieving stretch goals

  • 15 years in product engineering or product management leadership functions

  • Track-record (10 years) of successful team leadership. Previous experience leading managers of managers is a must. Passionate about developing and growing people within the organization.

  • Proven ability to inspire, empower, and lea cross-functional teams.

  • Great understanding of the CRM market and in-depth knowledge of Commerce products

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within complex organizations and to bridge interests of multiple stakeholders

  • Experience in building out businesses from scratch and make them successful based on defined KPIs

  • Data-driven and results oriented leader with a growth and scale mindset. Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, and ability to quickly learn and drive to market leadership in new product categories.

  • Technically strong, with proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies

  • Deep experience in cloud-native software design and how to build and maintain cloud software

  • Superb understanding of cloud-native architecture and cloud services

  • Proven leadership skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Go-to leader, able to build trust in a very short time period

  • Ability to manage and communicate change

  • Ability to liaise and connect with various stakeholders and work towards a common goal

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Experience in both high-level business discussions and deep technical discussions. Ability to build compelling presentations and narratives to drive influence and awareness.

  • Master’s degree in related field(s) (Business, Software Development, Engineering, etc.)

Compensation Range Transparency

SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 370400 - 629700(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
