The EDS HV Product Development Engineer-Connection systems will be responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. Will provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. Will be responsible to create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.

  • Development and design of novel HV connector designs & EDS Components for FORD Advance EV projects.

  • Translate requirements into engineering specification and provide solutions with new product designs on time.

  • Responsible for design concept making, mechanical analysis, building 3D models and 2D drawings, GD&T, part list/BOM, DFMEA, product specifications, application specifications, etc.

  • Lead the design review for compliance with engineering principles, product standards.

  • Lead design review with cross functional teams to confirm the manufacturing feasibility and product quality.

  • Leads DV/PV tests to validate product designs.

  • Responsible for FAI review with components suppliers, co-working with project team and providing on-site support at manufacturing site for product ramp-up on time.

  • Bring new technology of cages/HV connector/thermal solutions into production.

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering

  • 5- 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience with electrical components or devices, mechanical structure design, manufacturing tooling development (stamping, molding, assembly), or manufacturing process development

  • Knowledge in relevant mechanic design and development, including but not limited to, material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, product qualification, etc.

  • Strong Electrical/Mechanical Engineering fundamentals

  • Ability to question traditional assumptions in the application of regulations, guidance material, and engineering specifications.

  • Expert in 3D CAD applications, GD&T with experience in 3D solid modeling including sheet metal, 2-D drawings, PDM link Data Manager and general knowledge in design applications such as 3DExperince, SolidWorks, or others used only in concept stage.

Preferred Requirements :

  • Technical owner of assigned product development and product line.

  • Fundamental understanding of connector design and mechanical assembly and/or manufacturing techniques.

  • Expertise in certain areas of Connector development and/or Connector manufacturing.

  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review, preparation, and presentation to address design, engineering, and manufacturing requirements.

  • Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes to include stamping, molding, plating, and automated product assembly.

  • Experience in development engineering and participation in full product development cycle.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and teaming skills.

  • Experience developing connection systems specifications, and an overall understanding of HV systems certification processes and requirements. [i.e. SAE J2464, IEC 61851-1]

  • Experience deriving cost, manufacturability, reliability and failure modes tradeoffs from based on specific designs.
