Palmyra-Macedon Central School District Part-Time Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach in Palmyra, New York

Part-Time - Approximately 3 hours a day/15 hours total a week.

TITLE: Strength and Conditioning Coach

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics

Purpose: The Strength and Conditioning Coach will have the primary responsibility of providing the students of the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District with opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will guide students in attaining the knowledge and skills necessary for success during their athletic career at Pal-Mac.

    Expected Results:

  • The Strength and Conditioning coach will provide onsite and offsite fitness training for students by:

  • Developing and providing the School District with a comprehensive fitness program focusing on fitness room safety, strength conditioning, flexibility, endurance, and overall well-being.

  • Providing the School District with a qualified strength & conditioning staff to offer comprehensive training instruction to athletes and students.

  • Providing an on-site training service for the times outlined in the independent employment agreement with the District.

  • Working directly with the School District’s interscholastic athletic coaches to schedule sport-specific training sessions within the on-site training periods described above.

  • All parents, students, community members, employees, and all visitors to the Palmyra-Macedon CSD will experience the Pal-Mac Way by:

  • Greeting parents, students, community members, employees, and all visitors with a friendly and helpful attitude.

  • Displaying a customer service approach when working with others in person, on the phone, and through written and electronic communication.

  • Being attentive to the needs of all individuals who request their assistance.

  • Communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Utilizing their skills to de-escalate a situation when other people are in a heightened or excited state.

  • The Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning will perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or designee.

Job Qualifications

  • Possess the proper New York state certifications and licenses for the position.

  • Current Red Cross certification in First Aid - Responding to Emergencies or equivalent

  • Current Red Cross certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED

  • Blood Borne Pathogen training

  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

  • Fingerprint clearance through New York State Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability.

  • Evidence of an open, collaborative style that fosters a sense of teamwork and common purpose.

  • Proven people skills and is an effective communicator with a sense of humor. The teacher will be positive, approachable, and respectful of others.

  • Willingness to become an active, engaged and visible member of the learning community.

  • A clear communicator in oral and written language, including electronic communication.

  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, administrators, students, and parents.

  • Use problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Listen first.

  • Unquestioned integrity, honesty, and diplomacy.
