Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Electronics Engineer (Avionics Test) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will support our Avionics Integration West organization and will be located in Palmdale, California.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and testing products.

  • Operate effectively on a team of engineers and technicians

  • Provide expertise to the program through training external (as well as internal) users as the platform matures and progresses to later stages of testing.

  • Collaborate with design teams for requirements flow down, management, and verification

  • Generate complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities.

  • Use strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and team building skills.

  • Work in a dynamic, fast paced, aerospace team environment while possessing technical proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and ability to interface across the different engineering teams.

  • Collaborate closely with team members of other functional teams as well as working with the program to meet the customer’s needs.

The selected candidate can start in the position with a Secret clearance and Program Access. Clearance will then be upgraded to Top Secret/SCI.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) related field with 5 years of relevant engineering experience; a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

  • Ability to gain and maintain SCI access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Electronics, Aerospace, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering discipline from an accredited university.

  • An active and in scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.

  • Current SCI access/eligibility.

  • 5+ years of experience developing advanced technological ideas and guiding their development into a final product.

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
