The position of Postdoctoral Associate is available in the Ron Davis Laboratory on The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute campus in Jupiter Florida. The laboratory is focused on the development of novel and effective therapeutics to promote better health for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases, emphasizing ALS and Alzheimer’s disease. We employ state-of-the art phenotypic assays to identify small molecules that offset the insults to neuronal mitochondria due to these diseases, several different cell culture methodologies to include primary neurons from the mouse brain and human iPSC-derived neurons from normal and affected individuals, and animal models for these diseases to include both Drosophila and the mouse. We supplement these broad efforts with genetic, biochemical, and physiological assays as needed. We are currently seeking a talented and committed individual to help drive progress forward primarily in testing putative new drugs in human iPSC-derived neurons for ALS and/or Alzheimer’s disease.
