*Job Summary *

The Engineering Technician provides operational support to various departments across the site, both surface and underground. This includes responsibilities such as managing regulatory and quality records, participating in tours with regulatory visitors, and working with engineering on various rehab and bolting projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental sampling to ensure adherence to EPA and other regulatory standards.
  • Monitor surface water treatment and discharge processes, promptly identifying and communicating any issues to relevant stakeholders to mitigate potential environmental impacts.
  • Execute quality sampling protocols to verify compliance with regulatory specifications and uphold product standards.
  • Contribute to the management of regulatory and quality records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in the timely and accurate submission of reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) to review and update the site security plan, thereby maintaining site security measures effectively.
  • Aid the Safety Manager in facilitating mandatory safety training sessions as required by regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of training programs for New Miner , Annual Refresher courses, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Conduct simulated regulatory inspections to verify facility compliance and address any potential issues proactively.
  • Coordinate and participating in inspections alongside regulatory agencies such as MSHA and ODNR, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Perform workplace safety audits for contractors and projects to identify and rectify hazards, fostering a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate counting, organization, and staging of bolting and other ground support supplies, ensuring they are readily available for use. Promptly reporting any inventory shortages or material issues to the Mine Superintendent.
  • Complete monthly mine supply counts to maintain precise underground inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with engineering to define test hole specifications, install ground monitoring devices, and implement appropriate monitoring measures to track ground movement and conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop and execute rehabilitation and bolting plans, assisting in the preparation and execution of planned rehabilitation projects.
  • Support operations in the preparation and execution of scheduled rehabilitation projects.
  • Assist facility management on miscellaneous tasks and projects as needed
  • Provide supervisory coverage as needed for both Surface and Underground
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent qualification

3 or more years of underground mining experience

Proficiency in and comprehension of MSHA regulations

Ability to acquire State of Ohio Foreman's Certification within one year

Demonstrated experience working directly with frontline personnel

Excellent communication and organizational abilities
