Precise Systems seeks a senior level System Maintenance Technician (SMT) or Test Director (TD) to support the Vertical Launch System (VLS) Installation and Test Branch at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD). The position will consist of serving as a member of the Installation and Test Team and providing Subject Matter Expert (SMT) level support for all aspects of the MK57 Peripheral Vertical Launching System (VLS) In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Programs.
Duties:
Responsible for day-to-day management and long-term planning of Vertical Launching System (VLS) production, test and operation on USS Zumwalt class ships. Three ships located in Pascagoula and San Diego
Support all Vertical Launching Waterfront Integration Tests, Tracking exercises, and Missile data-blocked events at NBSD and Seal Beach.
Lead teams to install the major operating equipment in the vertical launch modules.
Direct management oversight of multiple subcontractors to install equipment using cranes and for assisting in the integration of the VLS.
Ensure Test Observation Reports (TORs) and Software Trouble Report (STR) are being written and resolved.
Coordinate with various government entities for: resolving install issues, witness testing, and requirements for structural test fire.
Required Education:
BSME or equivalent engineering degree required
Required Experience:
5+ years SME level experience with MK41 / MK57 VLS Installation and Test.
Certified VLS MK57 System Maintenance Technician (SMT)
Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
Excellent electrical and mechanical debugging skills are required.
Competency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) is required.
Other Requirements:
Ability to lift at least 25lbs.
Ability to travel up to 50%.
Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Valid driver’s license for possible CONUS travel.
Current U.S. passport for possible OCONUS travel.
Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
High degree of self-motivation.
Self-starter willing to work in a team environment.
This position is covered by the Service Contract Labor Standard under a Wage Determination. As such Under the SCA selected candidates are entitled to both the hourly rate aforementioned and a health and welfare benefit. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
