Job Description Summary

The John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University invites applications for the Assistant Director of the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship for the Startup and Venture Capital Track. The Assistant Director for the Startup and Venture Capital Track will have a range of responsibilities related to advancing the co-curricular, teaching, and service activities in the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship for startup and venture capital.

Job Description

The John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship is housed in the Department of Entrepreneurship, winner of the USASBE Model Program Award in 2024 as the top entrepreneurship program in world and ranked among the Top 10 public schools for undergraduate entrepreneurship studies for sixteen consecutive years in The Princeton Review® and Entrepreneur Magazine annual ranking of the Top 50 Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Programs in the world (#7 overall globally, #2 overall in the Midwest, and #1 in Ohio in 2024), combines strong academic scholarship and rigorous theoretical and empirical research with immersive, practice-based learning opportunities for students. The Assistant Director for the Startup and Venture Capital Track will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Overseeing and supporting execution of the Altman Summer Scholars Internship program.

Developing and/or supporting the development of new co-curricular programs in startup and venture capital and other areas as assigned.

Supporting the development of entrepreneurship seminars and/or classroom projects.

Cultivating and/or supporting the cultivation of guest speakers and host company organizations for class projects.

Cultivating and/or supporting the cultivation judges and mentors to participate in and support Techstars® Startup Weekend Miami, the Business Model Road Test Pitch Competition, and the RedHawk Venture Pitch Competition.

Overseeing and/or supporting the planning, organization, and execution of the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship's co-curricular entrepreneurship programs, including Advancing Women in Entrepreneurship (AWE), the RedHawk Launch Accelerator, World Creativity & Innovation Week/Day, Techstars® Startup Weekend Miami, Social Innovation Weekend, the Business Model Road Test Pitch Competition, and the RedHawk Venture Pitch Competition, among others.
