Emory Healthcare/Emory University Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor of Chemistry in Oxford, Georgia
Oxford College, a unique two-year liberal arts college within Emory University, located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus Oxford, Georgia, invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Chemistry beginning August 2024, with possible renewal for up to three years, pending budgetary approval, curricular need, and performance evaluations.
The successful candidate will teach two lecture courses and their accompanying laboratories each semester, contributing to the first-year sequence of Emory’s new integrated chemistry curriculum. Chemistry 150 introduces atomic and molecular structure including conformation and stereochemistry. Chemistry 202 combines topics traditionally taught in general chemistry courses with organic chemistry topics with the goal of providing a basic understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical reactions and how these are related to the structure of the reactants and products and the pathways between them. The lecture and laboratory courses are taught alongside a cohort of faculty colleagues in Oxford’s science facility, which opened in 2016, intentionally designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, scholarship, and innovative teaching in STEM.
