Summary

This position provides a variety of maintenance services for all aspects of the Silica operation

Key Responsibilities

  • Recognize, correct, and report any hazards and unsafe actions or conditions.

  • Comply with Company and department safety policies and procedures. Focus on safety for yourself, as well as all individuals working in or touring your area.

  • Compliance with all Company and MSHA policy’s

  • Completing daily workplace examinations.

  • Understand and use of all Personal Protective Equipment

  • Valid driver’s license or ability to get one

  • Perform various labor tasks in all weather conditions and environmental areas, carry up to 80lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and be comfortable with enclosed spaces and heights.

  • Work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime.

  • Maintain a working phone and be receptive to call-outs.

  • Complete, perform and document accurate preoperational equipment examinations.

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area daily.

  • Training and development of new employees and other crewmembers’ skills.

  • Giving an accurate account of the past shift activities, both written and verbal to the oncoming crew. Examples: safety problems, equipment problems or changes to process, load status.

  • Provide quality Maintenance on all equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance on all equipment

  • Operate maintenance equipment: forklift, backhoe, service trucks, pickup, and man lifts.

Typical Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Skills and Abilities

  • Welding - Demonstrate the ability to maintain a certification in structural welding.

  • Fusing - Demonstrate the ability to properly weld HDPE pipe of different sizes

  • Conveyors - Demonstrate the ability to properly complete a conveyor lacing.

  • Lid Opening Gangways - Demonstrate the ability to properly repair the Lid Opening Gangways

  • Gearboxes - Demonstrate the ability to properly rebuild a gearbox

  • Fabrication - Demonstrate the understanding and ability to read blueprints and diagrams.

  • Fabrication - Demonstrate the ability to fabricate items from blueprints and diagrams.

  • Fabrication - Demonstrate the ability to fabricate guards, equipment supports, and other special projects.

  • Belt Driven Sheaves - Demonstrate the ability to properly align two drive belt sheaves.

  • Belt Tension - Demonstrate the ability to properly check and adjust drive belt tension.

  • Pump Rebuilds - Demonstrate the ability to properly rebuild a horizontal water pump

  • Pump Rebuilds - Demonstrate the ability to properly set a vertical (pond) water pump

  • Pump Rebuilds - Demonstrate the ability to properly rebuild a slurry pump wet end

  • Coal Mill - Demonstrate the ability to properly rebuild, install and adjust a coal mill journal

  • Coal Mill Fan - Demonstrate the ability to properly replace the coal mill fan, bearings and set to proper tolerances (fan and bearings).

  • Compressors - Demonstrate the understanding of compressors and ability to perform minor maintenance and serving.

  • Hydraulics – Demonstrate the ability to make hydraulic or grease hose assemblies

  • Conveyors - Demonstrate the ability to properly string a conveyor and fasten it together.

  • Conveyors - Demonstrate the ability to properly complete a conveyor lacing with clip smoothing

  • Conveyors - Demonstrate the ability to properly replace drive, tail, bent and snub pulleys, along with bearings.

Required Certifications

  • Certified Welder (Aluminum welding is a plus)

  • MSHA Certification preferred

Other Information

  • Good written and oral communication skills; legible handwriting.

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, officials, and the public.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be self-directed.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Problem Solver: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to read Vernier Calipers and convert it to fractions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands of this position include climbing steep grades with unstable material, walking areas with uneven terrain, walking for long durations, and climbing stairs while carrying equipment. May be required to, but not limited to, the following: sit, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, bend, and reach for unspecified time periods during a shift. Must be able to lift 80 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment consists of working around various pieces of equipment and moving parts. In the mine it is very dangerous and dusty. Work exposures may include, but not limited to, the following conditions: wind, rain, extreme heat, extreme cold, noise, dust, humid, wet, heights, trenches/pit, repetitive motion, shock impact to hands and joints, chemical and electrical hazards.

Pay rate is $36.39/hour

Weekly schedule is: Monday - Friday 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM
