Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Category Management plays a critical role in developing category, shopper and channel insights in support of the Sales and Marketing team. These insights are developed into actionable recommendations in partnership with the sales and marketing teams to grow the Morton Brand and Business across its various categories.

Activities will include the following:

  • Manage and maintain our syndicated data sources, budget and relationships
  • Develop presentations for line reviews with key customers based on the collection of our insights
  • Support the ongoing growth of our base business and innovation through partnerships with the marketing team
  • Train users on the syndicated tools and work with external partners to ensure that they are done in a manner that meets our ongoing needs

Duties and Responsibilities

Syndicated Data Management and Utilization

  • Maintain custom databases in Circana IRI across Flavor Enhancer, Water Softening, Pool Salt and Ice Melt
  • Incorporate other tools such as DataSembly, 84.51, etc. to provide additional insights not possible in our Circana tool
  • Partner with external resources to make this data available and usable for the broader sales and marketing team
  • Demonstrate aptitude in developing and honing reports to meet the varied needs of the business and its team
  • Proactively and reactively identify the changing drivers of our consumption to inform improved management of our base business and any notable changes we should be undertaking
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and stay abreast of new developments/technologies in market that may help us advance

Develop and Present Line Review Presentations to Key Customers

  • Translate insights and business needs to actionable recommendations to our customers
  • Be able to work within tight development windows our customers occasionally require to complete these presentations
  • Adjust approach as necessary based on our customers goals to increase our success rate

Insight Development

  • Support the identification, development and sell-in of new items in partnership with the Marketing and Innovation team
  • Proactively bring new information forward that has the chance to spark new ideas and ways of thinking
  • Creatively identify paths to answers where existing information and resources may fall short
  • Seek new sources of information or improved ways to use our existing as we grow across new customers, channels and categories
  • Be a passionate advocate of shopper insights and seek to transform our efforts to better address them

Training and Development

  • Lead the training of new employees and continuously improve the adoption of our tools through continued collaboration with the team
  • Monitor utilization and bring forward recommendations to optimize and maximize our usage/results
