Job Summary and Qualifications

Infusion nurses administers various therapies such as intravenous antibiotics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products. The Infusion Nurse will also promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

About this unit:

  • We take care of complex oncology and infusion patients in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork.

  • Patient population is often recurring, which in turn we build relationships with them and their families.

  • Clinic open Monday – Friday 7:30a - 5pm; PRN will work as needed .

  • Ability to cross train in Medical Oncology, GYN Oncology and Infusion.

Responsibilities:

  • The role of the Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager.

  • The Registered nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

  • The Registered Nurse in this department provides care for adult patients between 18 to 64 years and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.

  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. BLS is required upon hire. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred within first 6 months of hire; required within first year of hire. Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) from Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred.

  • Prior experience in a similarly sized facility with similar services provided is preferred. Previous emergency, pre-hospital or critical care preferred. Previous oncology experience is strongly preferred.

We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services. We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU.
