Dickinson Financial Corporation Mortgage Operations Manager in Overland Park, Kansas

Summary :

This position reports to the Director of Mortgage Operations. The Mortgage Operations Manager is responsible for Mortgage operations management oversight of the Mortgage Underwriting Closing and Post Closing support staff. This includes document analysis and review to Investor and Agency guidelines, document preparation and document delivery for sale to Investors. Lead, train, and supervise the Underwriting, Closing and Post Closing staff; design and administer system changes and updates and procedure changes, updates or implementations, while ensuring accurate and timely completion of workflows with the Teams being managed. Communicate with other department managers to promote efficient, compliant and accurate workflow.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Directly supervise Underwriting, Closing and Post Closing support staff.

  • Assist with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the business.

  • Assist with carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance’s with the Banks policies and applicable laws.

  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and performance management of associates, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Promote communication and ensure quality service is delivered throughout the Bank, as well as with external customers.

  • Assist in development and maintaining workflows for all stages of the loan file inclusive of Underwriting, Closing and Post Closing.

  • Maintain and demonstrate proficiency with loan software applications currently in operation. Work with system providers to utilize applications to the fullest capacity, streamlining process and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Analyze, prepare and train for periodic updates to system software and verify that enhancements are working correctly. Assist with system parameters and design to meet the needs of multiple departments.

  • Supervise Underwriting, Closing and Post Closing to ensure all loans are being processed and underwritten in accordance with established regulations, Credit Policy, Retail Product Guide, Agency, FHA and VA Guidelines and all written procedures.

  • Adhere to all State and Federal Banking

  • Understands, embodies, communicates, and instills corporate initiatives and vision, including the six Pillars of Success.

  • Maintains client information in complete.

  • Completes other specified duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance required, working at the assigned worksite, or assigned remote location during regular business hours and/or assigned hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

  • Auditing or similar and/or minimum ten years of previous loan operations experience in a mortgage lending environment with loan decision responsibilities, FHA DE and VA SAR designations.

  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience clerical or administrative.

  • Strong knowledge of banking and comprehensive knowledge of mortgage lending laws and regulations.

  • Multi-tasking skills – must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, assignments, and work with frequent interruptions while meeting critical.

  • An analytical mind set with the ability to handle multiple tasks, examine, process and conclude findings.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and accurately.

  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a cooperative and helpful attitude with others.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situation where only limited standardizations are present. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Encompass, Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. The position is sedentary, involving sitting most of the workday; however, the position will involve moving about the workspace to reach entrances/exits, restrooms, conference rooms, or other areas within the work environment. Reaching may be required involving the ability to move arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone, will be used requiring the ability to manipulate a keyboard, mouse, and/or keypad. The ability to decipher a computer screen or written documents is necessary. The ability to express or exchange ideas; impart information to clients, coworkers, or the public; or to convey detailed or important instructions; is required. The ability to receive and understand detailed information shared through oral or written communication is required. Position requires occasional lifting and or the exerting of up to 10 pounds of force.
