Job Summary\ *This position is responsible for analyzing, planning, and managing the supply of raw materials and ingredients for the third-party manufacturing network. Oversee the supply chain from purchase order to delivery, including, shipping, receiving and materials consumption. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting best-in-class operations strategies for external manufacturing (Copacking operations/co-mans). This position will play a critical role in optimizing and streamlining Contract Manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal/external customer experience as well as providing strategic solutions to support company objectives. The jobholder will also ensure co-packer adherence to Morton Salts quality and production standards through site visits, metric tracking and process improvement initiatives.**\


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with third party manufacturing sites, procurement, and supply planning to ensure material availability for production at the producing co-manufacturing facilities.

    • Effectively plan materials by placing purchase orders to avoid material shortages while recognizing warehouse storage constraints and site-specific receiving requirements.
    • Establish logical reorder points and safety stock levels within MRP.
    • Maintain/update key system fields, parameters and modifiers that impact the planning process and projected supplier output (e.g. lead times and minimum order quantities, etc.)
  • Collaborate with packaging suppliers to evaluate and determine vendor stock levels and establish min/max guidelines.

  • Manage the day-to-day stable operations at our co-packing facilities.

  • Escalate manufacturing performance issues to procurement and ensure best in class service both on day-to-day processes and overall quality of finished goods.

  • Ensure that compliance controls are adhered to, to mitigate risks related to quality and customer service.

  • Oversee the disposition of obsolete, defective or rejected materials.

  • Lead/participate in cross-functional projects such as packaging changes, new product launches and innovation, seasonal or promotional event planning, etc. by developing, managing and communicating an executable material planning strategy.

  • Lead in the vetting & evaluation process of potential co-manufacturing partners as needed based on company initiatives, including line assessments and first-run trials.

  • Lead/manage creation of new copacker locations in the ERP system and provide login credentials for all co-man support staff

  • Ensure co-packers are following Mortons process for day-to-day operations related to inventory:

    • Oversee production confirmation and scheduling
    • Manage and execute the physical inventory process provided by finance including weekly, monthly, and annual physical counts.
    • Implement processes and procedures to minimize inventory count variances and reduce adjustments.
  • Create and maintain annual budgets for copacker locations to capture expenses related to all non-production related activities (e.g. storage fees, demurrage, rework, etc.).

  • Establish and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely and accurate delivery of Contract Manufacturing services.

  • Report and evaluate the performance of co-manufacturing partners, measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as product quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency. Manage profit & loss for all contract manufacturers.

  • Acts as the liaison between the contract manufacturer and functional groups within Morton
