Position Summary: Instruct assigned Student Wellness group fitness classes and/or programs. Conducts safe, effective, and enjoyable exercise classes by providing excellent leadership, up-to-date quality instruction and high-energy motivation for various disciplines to include Tai Chi, Meditation, Zumba, Kickboxing, Spin, Pilates, Bootcamps, Yoga, Barre, HIIT, Abs & Core, Hip Hop Fitness, Self Defense, Martial Arts, Sport Conditioning, Step, Hi/Lo, Walking and Running.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience instructing group exercise classes independently AND at least one current group exercise and/or personal training certification from either a nationally recognized organization (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NETA, or comparable), a specialty certification/training from a nationally recognized certifying agency, specialty training certification from nationally recognized organizations.
  • Degree in Kinesiology or a related field.
  • Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the Student Wellness departments mission and goals.
  • Creates a welcoming environment for all fitness levels; encourages and motivates class members.
  • Develops and organizes safe, effective choreography, movement sequencing, and progressions, participant cueing and overall class set up.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to safety and emergency situations that may occur while teaching a class.
  • Maintains professionalism and a positive attitude with patrons and co-workers at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High energy and stamina with the ability to move and speak for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to safely and easily perform the physical movements of the specialty taught, from beginner to advanced.
  • Maintains accurate class attendance records using check in procedures.
  • Maintains group fitness equipment and fitness studios.
  • Adheres to building policies.
  • Answers questions from participant to support them in achieving their healthy lifestyle and wellness goals.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and encourages connections with JCCC Student Wellness programs and connections.
  • Arrives promptly and is prepared for sessions.
