Katmai Fuel Management/ Delivery/General Building Maintenance in Ouzinkie, Alaska

WORK SCHEDULE

Full Time (30 hrs.) per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignments or projects.

SUMMARY

Manages and monitors the village’s fuel tank farm and distributes the fuel resources throughout the area as needed. This includes the delivery of various fuels such as gasoline, diesel, propane and fuel oil to homes and commercial businesses upon request. This position also includes general building maintenance for the company office & buildings including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and aesthetics. Snow removal is performed as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor fuel storage and order new replacement fuel as necessary

  • Oversee the necessary protocol for safe delivery of fuel from the barge to the village tank farm

  • Maintain records of fuel storage amounts and the amounts of fuel delivered

  • Monitors the fuel storage and fuel plumbing systems for safety and environmental concerns

  • Check the daily delivery orders each morning and complete the ordered fuel deliveries by end of day.

  • Make emergency fuel deliveries as necessary

  • Inspect and safely operate all fuel delivery trucks including their fill and delivery systems (Maintain updates w/software and learn basic troubleshooting of fuel metering systems)

  • Maintains ONC portion of the storage warehouse in a neat and safe condition (safety signage in place)

  • Perform snow removal for the village corporate office and surrounding SIF place of Operations

  • Keep all trucks on a regular maintenance schedule

  • Operate a forklift & dock crane

  • Required to stay in compliance with the renewal of CDL, with the HAZMAT endorsement

  • Required to keep valid 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification

  • Perform general maintenance for the corporate village office as needed. This includes plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring and other duties.

  • Landscaping and grounds upkeeping duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skilled as a handyman and familiar with the tools needed to perform general repairs including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, mechanical systems such as windows and doors, flooring and other typical systems found in an office complex. Ability to troubleshoot and if practical, make repairs to fuel distribution equipment as necessary.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., is preferred.

  • Experience using general office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, 10 Key, etc., is preferred.

  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).

  • Operate a fuel truck in an environmentally safe manner

  • Good customer service skills

  • A basic understanding of electrical systems and how to work with it safely

  • Licensed vehicle operator CDL-CLASS B with HAZMAT endorsement

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification

EDUCATION

High School diploma or GED.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving may be required when traveling and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is up to 25%.

TRAVEL

Travel, up to 25% of the time, may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift and carry 130-pound bottles of propane for short distances multiple times per day

  • Ability to manipulate and pull 1.5 inch and 4-inch hoses weighing as much as 50 pounds

  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs routinely

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to work outside in an inclement and cold environment as needed

  • Must be able to clear sidewalks and parking area with a snow shovel and mechanized equipment
