Katmai Facility/Building Maintenance in Ouzinkie, Alaska

WORK SCHEDULE

Full Time (30 hrs.) per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignments or projects.

SUMMARY

This position includes general building maintenance for the company office & buildings including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and aesthetics. Snow removal is performed as necessary. This position will require coordinating and working with the Spruce Island Fuel staff to assist with daily operations and maintenance with delivery trucks, tank farm, fuel distribution piping, and other associated work related to SIF operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors the fuel storage and fuel plumbing systems for safety and environmental concerns

  • Maintains ONC portion of the storage warehouse in a neat and safe condition (safety signage in place)

  • Performs snow removal for the village corporate office and surrounding SIF place of operations

  • Keeps all trucks on a regular maintenance schedule

  • Operates a forklift and dock crane

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

  • Performs general maintenance for the corporate village office as needed. This includes plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring, and other duties.

  • Landscaping and grounds upkeeping duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skilled as a handyman and familiar with the tools needed to perform general repairs including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, mechanical systems such as windows and doors, flooring and other typical systems found in an office complex.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Interest and ability to obtain a CDL with HAZMAT endorsement

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. is preferred.

  • Experience using general office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines, 10 Key, etc. is preferred.

  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).

  • Good customer service skills

  • A basic understanding of electrical systems and how to work with it safely

EDUCATION

High School diploma or GED.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have a current driver's license and be able to attain a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving will be required when traveling and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is up to 25%.

TRAVEL

Travel, up to 25% of the time, may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift and carry 130-pound bottles of propane for short distances multiple times per day

  • Ability to manipulate and pull 1.5 inch and 4-inch hoses weighing as much as 50 pounds

  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs routinely

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to work outside in an inclement and cold environment as needed

  • Must be able to clear sidewalks and parking area with a snow shovel and mechanized equipment

  • Duties often require work outdoors with short periods of cold weather exposure
